Charter Flights to and from Reno Nevada
Before the late 1950s, Reno, Nevada was the gambling capital of the United States, but in the last few decades the rapid growth of Las Vegas, coupled with the 2000 buyout of Reno Air by American Airlines and the growth of Indian gambling gaming in California have somewhat reduced its business. Still, there is much to see and do when flying a private jet charter to Reno.
Reno serves as the corporate headquarters for numerous companies, including Braeburn Capital, Hamilton, PC-Doctor, and International Game Technology, a large manufacturer of slot machines. Two other companies with strong ties to the gaming industry, GameTech and Bally Technologies, have a development and manufacturing presence in Reno.
Though the city is a growing economic center, Reno will probably always be known as a tourist town. Because of geographical proximity, Reno has traditionally drawn the majority of its California tourists and gamblers from the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento, while Las Vegas has historically served more tourists from Southern California and the Phoenix area.
In an effort to bring additional tourism to the area, Reno hosts several major events throughout the year, including an increasingly popular classic car convention, a large motorcycle gathering called “Street Vibrations”, the Great Reno Balloon Race and other various celebrations and events. A number of newer casinos and large hotels have been built in recent years, expanding beyond the original core of gaming locations. Numerous golf courses and other activities attract those who wish to incorporate the outdoors into their trip to the city.
The region is served by Reno/Tahoe International Airport (RNO), with general aviation and some corporate traffic handled by Reno Stead Airport (RTS). Reno/Tahoe International Airport is the second busiest commercial airport in the state of Nevada after McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas yet is still large for its overall usage, due to its role as the hub and headquarters of the defunct airline Reno Air.
