Private Jet Charter Compared to Commercial
If you’re considering private jet charter for business, you might be wondering how a private charter flight compares with a commercial flight. A set of guidelines for commercial fliers outlines some worthy tips – and highlights what makes private jet charter the better way to go.
Reserve a good seat. Great advice. Some seats on commercial jets are better than others. Exit rows have more legroom. Avoid seats near the lavatories, since lots of fellow passengers will be lining up near them. And do you really want to think about the smell?
On a private jet charter, there ARE no bad seats. There are no crowds waiting to use the lavatory. Other than the crew, the only people on board are people YOU have invited to be there.
Keep in mind that others can hear you. It’s not a good idea to discuss confidential matters in flight. Others around you are likely to overhear your conversation. This could include potential business competitors.
A private jet charter is just that – private. What you say in confidence to your team members stays where it belongs, with your team members only. You can discuss business strategy, meeting details, whatever you need to, all without worrying about anyone hearing something they shouldn’t.
Consider bringing your own food. Let’s face it, many commercial flights today don’t give you any food beyond a bag of peanuts – if you’re lucky. If you’re flight’s long enough that you do get a meal, it’s probably not going to be enjoyable. If you can, try to pre-order (2-3 days in advance of your flight) a special meal – vegetarian, kosher, etc. – to try to get better quality food. Oh, and don’t forget to bring along some snacks of your own.
Private jet charters can have arranged catering, to YOUR specifications on short notice. You’re not limited to “airline food.”
Minimize your carry-on luggage. One carry-on per person is all you’re allotted. Oh, and if you’re checking luggage, expect to pay extra fees for each bag. And plan to wait for it at the destination airport baggage claim area, hoping it didn’t get sent somewhere else.
With private jet charters, you can see your luggage going onto the plane. Your carry-on baggage is not restricted, and when you land, all your baggage is ready to go when you are.
Bring something to entertain yourself. Don’t expect the in-flight videos to start for a while, and when they do, movies are often edited significantly for airline screening. The music selection can be limited. And of course, you can pretty much forget about working on a laptop in limited seating space on a tray table.
On a private jet charter, you have plenty of room to work. And your entertainment options are limited only by your own choices – MP3 player, DVD player, portable games. If you want to work, your charter flight provider can arrange video conferencing, telephone, wi-fi or even fax service with advance notice.
